Around 1,500 construction workers, mostly South Asian migrants, are striking in Bahrain to demand higher wages as rising inflation and a weakening dollar erode incomes, the main trade union said yesterday. Employees of Haj Hassan Al-A’li Group, including up to 200 Bahraini nationals, stopped work some three days ago and talks with the firm were underway, Sayyed Salman Al-Mahfouz of the General Federation for Bahraini Trade Unions said.
