Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Company (Zain) wants to win a mobile phone licence in Lebanon and expects to be qualified to bid next month, its general manager was quoted as saying on Sunday.
The country is selling two-thirds of Alfa and MTC Touch to raise as much as $7 billion. The third-biggest Arab telecom firm by market value expects to be one of the firms qualified to bid for the firms, Zain general manager Barrak al-Sabaih said, according to al-Watan daily.
Zain was in talks to buy a stake in an Arab telecom firm for about $1 billion, al-Rai newspaper reported last week, citing Zain Chief Executive Saad al-Barrak.
